If I was at home right now, I would get to go to the restaurant of my choice, and then would come home to a cake.

alllllrighty then!
I've figured it out, you guys! If you plug your nose, it makes everything taste better!

Well, not better, but nothing really tastes different than anything else, so same difference.

Now, if only there were ketchup...

I've ignored this for a while, hoping that it would help. All these have been are constant reminders that the world is fucked up, and having events and memories documented in writing has an annoying way of making them seem more real and official. Being at school has this soul-sucking way of draining inspiration. Hogwarts - The Architectural Dementor. I've always felt like it's supposed to work the other way around: It's not really poetry unless it comes from someplace sad, because no one wants to read pages and pages of euphoric fluff.

Break was nice. Much too short. I succeeded in ignoring the world for two weeks. This, the paper, the wireless, the newly empty house next door, Leah and her constant nagging about The State of the Government and The Ways of the World. I think it paid off. It was nice to feel 16 again and to know that my food was going to be cooked all the way through.

But Christmas time doesn't feel like Christmas time without being able to look up the road to see what sort of weird snow-creatures Luna's piled together out of the snow. I'm afraid for Roger and I both do and don't want to know who died. I still don't know where Ben is and I'm scared to death that he's their unnamed statistic.

I don't want to go back. I liked being able to ignore it.

Good luck and godspeed, my little Gryffindor vikings.

And anyone in Herbology - are you finding anything on ways for checking Fanged Geraniums for cavities? Can't say I really have all the much interest in botanical dentistry as it is, and all of my sources are coming up "Well, you can try doing this, but you'll lose a finger if you do."

Ugh. They are definitely back to their old selves again.

I hope that it stops raining soon. If the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain, why do we get so damn much here in Scotland? It's very hilly outside. It's really too bad that there aren't weather controlling charms or something that they could do, especially on Quidditch days.

This is where most people would probably start humming "Rain Rain Go Away," but that song reminds me of creepy pale little zombie girls in white 16th century dresses and gives me the heebie jeebies.

In the Middle East, the Owl represents the souls of people who have died un-avenged. This feels annoyingly metaphorical now.

Ugh. A pox on you and yours, wobbling lardy tyrants. The owls did not sign up to be your guinea pigs.

At least detention always provides good company.

I have type O- blood. If anyone ever needs a transfusion I am the girl to come to.

Can I get a whatwhat from the other OhNegs around here? We are few and far between. We don't need no stinkin' antigen.

Can anyone else smell it? The sweet scent of freedom and chocolate and butterbeer and shopping just around the corner? I'm so excited, you guys. The idea of Hogsmeade actually happening has kind of given me new reason to live. Maybe we should have a pre-Hogsmeade celebration. It's almost worth sluffing through Double Defe Dark Arts today.

Almost.

In other news, second year with the bowl cut who got that Say You Will Be There or whatever song by the Spiceies stuck in my head? You will pay, I promise you. Various forms of medieval torture. There is absolutely no reason for me to know all the words to this song.

Chase!! How is your sniffing going?

Someone in the dorm was talking in their sleep last night. I'm very tired today because it kept me up pretty most of the night, but it was very interesting. I had no idea that there is a department in the Ministry specifically for waxing peoples' legs.

...Something something (Freud) something something "Aint freedom grand".

I don't remember the rest. That will teach me to bring newer anthologies with, just in case something happens to the early edition.
